A note to my students, Spring 2016: The time has come for me to move on. I do mean "move on," but I also mean literally "move." I am, in the summer of 2016, moving out of the northern Virginia area. The move will be far enough, I'm sad to say, to preclude my continued teaching at Northern Virginia Community college in anything other than the ELI program.

It is with a heavy heart that I make this decision, as NOVA has been a part of my life since 1987, when I showed up for my very first class - English 111, and back when NOVA was still on quarters!

I value my time with NOVA, both as a student for 5 years and as a professor for 15 - yes 15! - years. I would not be the person I am today without my experiences at NOVA, and I will miss the college, its students and my colleagues acutely as I step into the next phase of my life.
