SATURDAY, 12 August
Went to Rapid City Civic Center to check out the 2001 Harley and Buell lineups. No traffic. Hardly saw any bikes – compared to yesterday anyway. The Civic Center was nowhere near full.
Talked to the Buell rep for the southeast for a long time about the S3T. Next year I might try to trade my Bandit in on one – very cool and set up for touring.
That’s really all we did today other than get pizza from Papa Murhpy’s. They just make it – you have to take it home & bake it yourself. Weird.
We’re ready to go home – sort of. I have to pack up my gear. We haven’t cleaned the bathroom or kitchen yet. Besides that though, all we have to do is load up the van and go. We’re leaving about 3 or 4 tomorrow afternoon, going to Badlands National Park, and driving all night. We’re going to sleep in the day to avoid traffic and heat.
Susie figured out that everything is so deserted because of all the people that have to be back at work on Monday. We sure don’t. I have all next week off. It’ll be nice.
