For the ride back to San Francisco, I went south on US 101. Not nearly as scenic as PCH but nice until down around Santa Rosa. It goes through part of California's wine country. This time across the GG Bridge I took some snappy pics. Since there's a toll southbound an in their stupidity the designers put the tool booths on the CITY SIDE of the bridge, traffic was basically bumper-to-bumper stop-and-go all the way across the bridge.
Got back to Stan's and collapsed for a 2-hour nap. Didn't even take off my boots. Stan took us to dinner after so I could sample some "typical" San Francisco, which means outdoor patio dining, but the patio is enclosed with heavy tent canvas and there are big space heaters everywhere because it's so damn cold. Odd, but it's about 50 degrees in the evenings in July and August. We talked a lot about what formed us into who we are and the things that who we were had to leave behind on the journey to who we are.
